Helen M. Shew, 93, Willow Hill, IL passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL.
Helen was born on June 3, 1922 in Willow Hill Township Jasper County, IL and was the daughter of Claude E. Ping and Edith L. (Vance) Ping. On February 4, 1950 she married Virgil James Shew who preceded her in death on December 22, 2014.
Helen was an elementary school teacher for many years in Jasper County, IL. She was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1940. Helen was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, Oblong, IL; and graduated from a teachers college in Lincoln, IL in 1944. She enjoyed gardening especially her flower gardens and always wanting to help anyone who needed it. Helen enjoyed the time that she spent with friends and especially with family.
Helen was survived by Nick and Angie Lewis and family, who had become her family.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents; husband Virgil Shew; daughter Margaret (Shew) Allen December 30, 1995; three brothers John, Paul and Jimmy Ping and two sisters Doris (Ping) Sammons and Inez Ping.
